156 – Termina Primera Ronda de Negociaciones de la Alianza del Pacífico / First Round of Negotiations of the Pacific Alliance Ends
Cali, Colombia, noviembre 2017.
En abril del 2011, México, Chile, Colombia y Perú, crearon la Alianza del Pacífico, y en recientes fechas en Cali, Colombia terminó la Primera Ronda de Negociaciones, la cual cumplió el objetivo de analizar y tratar la posible incorporación de Australia, Canadá, Nueva Zelanda y Singapur como Estados Asociados, para así incrementar el comercio, la atracción de inversión extranjera directa y tener acceso a tecnologías nuevas y sofisticadas.
Se desarrollaron 23 mesas de trabajo durante cinco días de negociaciones y se profundizó en definir los términos que deberán incluir los capítulos de los acuerdos; en revisar el posible calendario y sedes para próximas Rondas de Negociaciones donde se incluyan temas como normas de origen, comercio transfronterizo de servicios y compras públicas.
María Lorena Gutiérrez, Ministra de Comercio, Industria y Turismo de Colombia resaltó al término del evento la importancia que tiene trabajar entre distintas naciones del mundo para consolidar acuerdos que generen beneficios a los ciudadanos, en un marco de armonía, justicia y normas claras, para que las relaciones puedan sobrevivir y fortalecerse con el transcurso de los años, entendiendo el reto que la globalización y las nuevas tecnologías presentan.
“Con estos acuerdos, la Alianza del Pacífico está más cerca de consolidarse como una plataforma de integración económica y comercial y de proyección al mundo con especial énfasis al Asia Pacífico, la región económicamente más dinámica del mundo”.
Finalmente, la propia Ministra de Comercio, Industria y Turismo de Colombia reveló lo que viene a futuro para esta Alianza, destacando que la siguiente sede donde se llevará a cabo la Segunda Ronda de Negociaciones será en uno de los países que aspira a incorporarse a la Alianza del Pacífico.
“Está prevista ya la realización de la Segunda Ronda, que será en Australia a principios del año entrante. Los países han acordado además trabajar entre rondas para llegar a esa reunión con el trabajo más avanzado”.

In April 2011, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Peru created the Pacific Alliance, and in recent dates in Cali, Colombia completed the First Round of Negotiations, which met the objective of analyzing and treating the possible incorporation of Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Singapore as Associated States, in order to increase trade, attract foreign direct investment and have access to new and sophisticated technologies.
Twenty-three working groups were developed during five days of negotiations and it was deepened to define the terms that the chapters of the agreements should include; in reviewing the possible calendar and venues for the next Round of Negotiations that include topics such as rules of origin, cross-border trade in services and public procurement.
María Lorena Gutiérrez, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, highlighted at the end of the event the importance of working with different nations of the world to consolidate agreements that generate benefits for citizens, in a framework of harmony, justice and clear rules, for that relationships can survive and strengthen over the years, understanding the challenge that globalization and new technologies present.
“With these agreements, the Pacific Alliance is closer to consolidating itself as a platform for economic and commercial integration and projection to the world, with special emphasis on Asia Pacific, the most economically dynamic region in the world.”
Finally, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia revealed what is coming up for this Alliance, emphasizing that the next venue where the Second Round of Negotiations will take place will be in one of the countries that aspires to join the Pacific alliance.
“The Second Round is already planned, which will be in Australia at the beginning of next year. The countries have also agreed to work between rounds to get to that meeting with the having advanced on most of the work.”
